Musical Director and Leader

Musical Director David Porter
David is both a highly accomplished oboe player and a very effective musical director. He has been playing the oboe since 1951. Former first oboe with the London Schools Symphony Orchestra involving regular concerts at the Royal Festival Hall and the RoyalAcademy of Music.
Subsequently first oboe with the Goldsmiths Symphony Orchestra.
In later years first oboe for the Tadworth Chamber Orchestra, and with the Croydon Orchestral Ensemble before becoming its musical director in 2002. Currently engaged in playing activity as the first oboe with the East Grinstead Sinfonia and the Merton Concert Band.
Highly active on the musical scene he is involved in up to twenty five concerts a year as conductor or player.

Orchestra Leader Margaret Hawkins
Margaret has been playing the violin since 1964.She played with the Essex Youth Orchestra with whom she toured Northern Italy and played in the Veltour Concert at the Royal Albert HallSubsequently played with amateur orchestras in Shropshire and then in the Surrey area. She has been with the COE for ten years and became leader in 2003. She is a professional music teacher.
